Introduction -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- This FAQ was written by Bremen to help all of you who may need it or for those of you who are just curious about the game. *Note: While I will make every attempt to avoid ruining the story, this is NOT a spoiler free FAQ/Walkthrough! I cannot guarantee the story will not be ruined for you by reading this FAQ. Details of the prequel to this game, Final Fantasy X, will be revealed as well so I would recommend playing that game first before starting Final Fantasy X-2 and reading this FAQ. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [002] II. How To Use This Guide -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- The [###] is the search code. Use it to search for specific sections in this FAQ/Walkthrough. Use the find feature in conjunction with the section search codes above listed on the "Table of Contents" to page through to specific sections of the FAQ. Basically, the FAQ is divided into 21 sections. Section "XII." is the walkthrough portion of the FAQ and probably the most useful. Everything else is just extra. The Walkthrough Section is the full walkthrough. For a short version of it see the Short Walkthrough. The short version allows you to quickly complete the game without the excess of sidequests. It is also fairly spoiler free. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [003] III. Game Information & Story -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- Title: Final Fantasy X-2 Publisher: Square-Enix Developer: Square-Enix Genre/Category: Role-Playing System: PlayStation 2 Number of Players: 1 Release Date: 11/18/2003 Play Time: 20-100+ Hours Replay: 20 hours - Infinite (depending on your definition of fun) Story: This information will tell some details of Final Fantasy X. So if you haven't played it yet, don't read this. Final Fantasy X-2 is the the first true sequel to any Final Fantasy game. It is a sequel to Final Fantasy X and I would strongly recommend playing through that game before starting this one. Now, on with the story. Kimahri found a sphere movie on Mt.Gagazet containing footage of someone who looked like Tidus locked in a cell. This gives her hope that he is still alive so she teams up with Rikku and Paine on a quest as a Gullwing to find more spheres and hopefully unlock the mystery of if this person in the movie is indeed Tidus and more importantly, if he is still alive. Thus begins the story. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [004] IV. Menu System -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- The [M##] is the search code for Menu System ONLY. Use it to search for a specific Menu item in this section. Each Menu item has its own information about it what it is used for and any submenus contained within it. Use the search code listed next to a particular Menu item to jump to that section for it or simply scroll down to it. The menu system in Final Fantasy X-2 is very similar to any other RPG's you have played before. You access the main menu by pressing the "Triangle" button anywhere in the game. The only exception is during a battle or a cutscene. The main menu is unavailable at those times. Here is a list of the menu items on the main menu and their appropriate search codes: [M01] Items [M02] White Magic [M03] Equip [M04] Garment Grids [M05] Abilities [M06] Accessories [M07] Dresspheres [M08] Config Here is a quick diagram to help you get the idea: --------------------------------------------------------------------------- |-- Help -------------------------------------------------------------------| | Description of currently selected menu item | |---------------------------------------------------------------------------| | --------------- --------------------------------- | | ==> Items | | XXXXX Yuna HP 100/ 100 | | | --------------- | X P X Lv. 1 MP 40/ 40 | | | --------------- | XXXXX Dressphere Gunner | | | | White Magic | --------------------------------- | | --------------- | | --------------- --------------------------------- | | | Equip | | XXXXX Rikku HP 100/ 100 | | | --------------- | X P X Lv. 1 MP 40/ 40 | | | --------------- | XXXXX Dressphere Thief | | | | Garment Grids | --------------------------------- | | --------------- | | --------------- --------------------------------- XXXXXXX | | | Abilities | | XXXXX Paine HP 100/ 100 |XXX XXX | | --------------- | X P X Lv. 1 MP 40/ 40 | XXX XXX| | --------------- | XXXXX Dressphere Warrior | XXX XXX | | | Accessories | --------------------------------- X X | | --------------- X X X | | --------------- X XX X | | | Dresspheres | ------------------- XX X X| | --------------- | Gil $$$$$ | X X X | | --------------- | Play Time 00:01 | X X X O X| | | Config | ------------------- X XX X / XX | | --------------- X XX / X | | X / X X | | X / X X | | --Location---------------------------------- / X X | | | Name of current location | X X | | -------------------------------------------- X XXX XX | | X XX XXX | -------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ - [M01] Items ---------------------------------------------------------------- The Items menu allows you to access any items you have collected throught the game. There are regular items and key items. There are three functions you can perform from the Items subscreen. They are: Use - Selecting this submenu item allows you to select a consumable item from your item list and then subsequently use that item on a character. You may notice that some of the items in your list are greyed out. These items can only be used in battle. Sort - Sort has two subfunctions. Manual and Auto. Manual sorting allows you to sort the items one at a time in the order you see fit. Auto sorting automatically sorts them for you. Key - The Key Items list simply shows you any key items you have collected and provides information reagarding each of them. You cannot select and use a key item. These items work automatically when the time comes. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ - [M02] White Magic ---------------------------------------------------------- The White Magic menu item only appears after you have obtained a White Mage Dressphere. This menu allows you to go into your available white magic spells that one of your characters has learned. When you select the White Magic menu item you will then need to select which character you want to utilize. Different spells might be available depending on the person you select. For example if Yuna has learned Curaga and Paine hasn't learned it yet, then when you select Yuna, you can use Curaga and her MP will be used. But if you select Paine she will not have the spell available. After you select a spell you will have to cast in on your character(s). ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ - [M03] Equip ---------------------------------------------------------------- This menu item has a little more depth than the others. There are three different kinds of equipment you can equip. Garment Grids Dresspheres Accessories x2 Garment Grids Each character can equip 1 Garment Grid. A Garment Grid basically is like a container. It holds Dresspheres. There is more to it than that but for now that is what you need to know. See the Garment Grid section of this FAQ for more information on Garment Grids. Dresspheres Each characters can assign 1 default Dressphere. Notice how I didn't say equip 1 Dressphere. This is because multiple Dresspheres are attached to one Garment Grid in most cases. However you must select a default Dressphere to start battles with. This is so you aren't defenseless in battle. You can switch between Dresspheres during battle, however you must select a default. The Dressphere you select as your default MUST be one from your currently equipped Garment Grid. The others will be unavailable to you. Accessories Each character can equip 2 accessories. These accessories give you protection, provide better defense, more strength, protection against status effect, etc. You can equip two of the same accessory to double the effect if you have them. Now, as you equip/unequip Garment Grids/Dresspheres/Accessories, you will notice that the Main Commands, Auto-Abilities, and character stats portions of the screen will change. They will automatically update to reflect the new equipment. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ - [M04] Garment Grids -------------------------------------------------------- This is where you manage your Garment Grids. You can add, remove, and rearrange Dresspheres on your Garment Grids in this section. See the Garment Grid section of this FAQ for more information on Garment Grids. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ - [M05] Abilities ------------------------------------------------------------ This is where you manage your Abilities. You can change which abilities you want to learn from this menu item. See the Abilities section of this FAQ for more information on Abilities. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ - [M06] Accessories ---------------------------------------------------------- The Accessories submenu is pretty useless in my opinion. It allows you to scroll through your list of accessories and either Examine them to see what they each do, or sort them manually or automatically the same way you sort the items. I say it is pointless because you can get the same information by simply scrolling through the list of accessories as you are deciding which one to equip. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ - [M07] Dresspheres ---------------------------------------------------------- The Dresspheres menu item is another fairly useless screen. It basically allows you to view a list of your currently obtained Dresspheres and some information regarding them. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ - [M08] Config --------------------------------------------------------------- The Config menu item obviously allows you to set your configuration/option settings for the game. There are several options: Spherechange Normal | Short | Off - Normal shows the full dressphere change animation everytime. - Short show a shorter version of the dressphere change animation everytime. - Off shows no animation and you simply swap instantly. ATB Mode Active | Wait - Active allows enemies to attack you while you are fumbling through the menus. - Wait will set it up so that enemies will not attack you while you are in the menus during battle. They will however still attack you even if it is your turn if you are on the top level of the menu (where it says attack, item, etc.). But once you go down one level in the menu, it pauses everything else. This is an easier mode to start out with. ATB Speed Slow | Normal | Fast - Slow simply slows the active time bar to a crawl. This maked battles go more slowly and is a good mode to start out in for beginners. - Normal is slightly faster than slow. It is the default speed. - Fast makes the battles fly by. I suggest using this mode once you get a handle on the battle system. Cursor Default | Memory - Default simply resets the cursor position in the battle menus to the default position. - Memory remembers the last command each character used so you can just press "X" the next time to do the same thing again. This mode can suck if you mess up and cast Curaga twice for no reason. Use this mode if you are lazy. Battle Help On | Off - On turns the battle help on. This gives you good information during battles. Leave it on. - Off turns it off. Don't turn it off. Vibration On | Off - On turns the vibration in the controller on. Final Fantasy X-2 doesn't use this feature much so I recommend turning it on. - Off turns it off. Useful if it annoys you. Subtitles On | Off - On makes it so that all the conversations in the game have subtitles on the screen as well. Useful if you have the sound turned down low and you missed a part of what someone said because someone in the house makes a loud sound at a crucial part of the scene. Ever happen to anyone else?? - Off turn them off. Useful if they annoy you. Subtitle Names On | Off - On turns on the name of the current person speaking in the game so you know who is talking. I always have this on. - Off turns them off. Guide Map On | Off - On turns on the mini-map on your screen when traveling around on the world map. Leave this on. Never turn it off. Ususally a red arrow will be displayed telling you a general direction in which you need to go. - Off turns it off. Sound Mono | Stereo - Mono turns the sound to Mono. - Stereo turns the sound to Stereo. Screen Position - This enables you to adjust the picture to be correctly positioned on your screen. Useful for some I suppose. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [009] VII. Battle System -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- Battling in Final Fantasy X-2 is somewhat different from what you may be used to. The battles have a sense of urgency to them to the the ATB or Active Time Battle system. This means when it is your characters turn, the enemy can still attack you. Even if you set it to "Wait" mode instead of "Active" the enemies will still attack you until you go down at least one level in the menu. So you can no longer sit around and figure out what you are going to do for ten minutes. This is kind of neat because it makes the battles go quicker and they get pretty wild. Enemies and characters are attacking each other at the same time or in mid-motion. This also allows you to have all 3 of your characters go up and attack an enemy at the same time. If you do this and time it correctly the attacks will be chained together and do much more damage. Chaining your attacks is basically timing the attacks so that your characters attack in rapid succession one after the other before an enemy can get a move inbetween. If you do this your damage will be increased. In battle you have basic things you can do. You can execute a command such as Attack and Pray, execute and ability such as Cure or Fire, use an Item, and you can escape. Abilities and commands come from Dresspheres which are in turn attached to a Garment Grid, but we'll get into that more a little bit later in the the next few sections. Garment Grids, Dresspheres, and Abilites are all part of Battling. You must master these aspects of the game in order survive. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ [010] -- Garment Grids ------------------------------------------------------- The [G##] is the search code for Garment Grids ONLY. Use it to search for specific Garment Grids in this section. First I will list the Garment Grids in the game. Each Garment Grids has its own information about it such as the location where it can be found, # of Sphere Nodes, # of Gates, and any bonuses it has. Use the search code listed next to a particular Garment Grid to jump to that section for it or simply scroll down to it. There are 60 Garment Grids in the game. Garment Grids are essential to battle. They are the foundation of all Dresspheres and Abilities. To start you must have a Garment Grid. When you start the game you have the First Steps Garment Grid. This is simply a Grid with six slots in it to place Dresspheres on. It does nothing else. So I place six different Dresspheres on this grid and then equip that grid on Yuna. I then set a default Dressphere for Yuna as well, so that every battle I will start out with that Dressphere equipped. Now, during battle I can switch between the four different Dresspheres as many times as I want by pressing L1 and selecting a different Dressphere on the Grid when it is Yuna's turn. That's the basic gist of the Garment Grid. Now there are also advanced Garment Grids that have something on them called gates. An example would be the Vanguard Garment Grid. It has five slots for Dresspheres with a gate (looks like a sphere) between each of them. Kind of like a spider web. At each intersection of the web would be either a slot for a Dressphere or a gate. Now, as you switch in battle between the Dresspheres you will pass through the gate that is between those two Dresspheres. What this does is give your character some sort of bonus for passing through the gate like Strength +10 for that battle only. Every gate has it's own bonus it gives to your character for passing through the gate. So using an advanced Garment Grid is much better than using a standard one with no gates in most cases. Here is a list of the available Garment Grids and descriptions of them: (Arranged in alphabetical order) [G01] Bitter Farewell [G31] Mounted Assault [G02] Black Tabard [G32] Pride of the Sword [G03] Blood of the Beast [G33] Protection Halo [G04] Bum Rush [G34] Raging Giant [G05] Chaos Maelstrom [G35] Ray of Hope [G06] Conflagration [G36] Restless Sleep [G07] Covenant of Growth [G37] Sacred Beast [G08] Covetous [G38] Salvation Promised [G09] Disaster in Bloom [G39] Samurai's Honor [G10] Downtrodder [G40] Scourgebane [G11] Enigma Plate [G41] Seething Cauldron [G12] First Steps [G42] Selene Guard [G13] Flash of Steel [G43] Shining Mirror [G14] Font of Power [G44] Still of Night [G15] Healing Light [G45] Stonehewn [G16] Healing Wind [G46] Strength of One [G17] Heart of Flame [G47] Supreme Light [G18] Heart Reborn [G48] Tempered Will [G19] Helios Guard [G49] Tetra Master [G20] Higher Power [G50] The End [G21] Highroad Winds [G51] Thunder Spawn [G22] Horn of Plenty [G52] Treasure Hunt [G23] Hour of Need [G53] Tricks of the Trade [G24] Howling Wind [G54] Undying Storm [G25] Ice Queen [G55] Unerring Path [G26] Immortal Soul [G56] Unwavering Guard [G27] Megiddo [G57] Valiant Lustre [G28] Menace of the Deep [G58] Vanguard [G29] Mercurial Strike [G59] White Signet [G30] Mortal Coil [G60] Wishbringer Under the Bonuses section below under each Garment Grid you will see some letters. Each Dressphere has its own information about it such as abilities and commands attached to it. Use the search code listed next to a particular Dressphere to jump to that section for it or simply scroll down to it. There are 17 Dresspheres in the game. 14 standard Dresspheres and 3 special Dresspheres. When a character puts on a Dressphere they not only have new abilities and commands available to them, but they also change their physical appearance during battle. For example, if Yuna wears her Gunner Dressphere, she uses two guns to attack and looks like a Gunner. If she changes to a Warrior Dressphere, she uses a large sword to attack and has different clothes on. In order to use a Dressphere it must be placed on something called a Garment Grid. Please read the Garment Grid section above for more information on them. Each Dressphere has it's own abilities attached to it. While a Dressphere is equipped to a character during battle, it will gain AP that will go into learning abilities. Please see the next section Abilities for more information on them. In this section I will list the Dressphere name, commands associated with the Dressphere, Abilities associated with the Dressphere, and information on each ability. Commands are abilities that show up on the main battle menu. These commands are executed quickly and require no MP for use. Abilities are accessed via a submenu. For example, to access the Gunner's ability "Potshot" you must choose the Gunplay command from the main battle window. This will open a submenu with all the available abilities you can use. These abilities usually take a little longer to cast than a command takes to execute. They also require the MP for use. SHORT EXPLANATION: To use them you have to transform into each Dressphere on your Garment Grid at least once during the same battle. Once you have done that you can press L1 to bring up the Garment Grid Window and then press R1 and then "X" to transform. LONG EXPLANATION: Okay. Here's how they work. You don't need to equip them, they are automatically ready after you get them. You cannot use them until you change into every dressphere on your garment grid. For example, say you are using the "First Steps" Garment Grid. There are 6 places on the garment grid that you can put dresspheres. We'll say you have White Mage, Black Mage, Gun Mage, Thief, Warrior, and Gunner attached to the garment grid. Now, you have Yuna in your party equipped with the "First Steps" Garment Grid and the Gunner dressphere equipped (look on the equip screen in the main menu). So Yuna starts every battle as a Gunner. Now you are walking around and you get into a fight against enemy. During the battle you use L1 to change Yuna into the White Mage. Then on her next turn you change her into the Black Mage. Then her next turn you change her into the Gun Mage, then the Thief, then the Warrior. So now you have transformed into all 6 dresspheres on that garment grid in the same battle. Notice I say the SAME battle. Once a battle is over you have to start all over again. So now that you have transformed into all the 6 dresspheres you had attached to the Garment Grid Yuna is using, you are FINALLY able to transform into the Special Dressphere. (To keep track of where you have gone on the garment grid, press L1 during battle and look for the blue line on the garment grid). Now press L1 to bring up the same garment grid window, when it comes up, press R1. You should notice that on the right of the screen it says something about Foral Fallal (Yuna's special dressphere). When that is showing, press X to choose it. The window should go away and you should change into the special dressphere. I know it's a lot of work, but they are quite powerful. If you have a Garment Grid called "Unerring Path", you will notice it only has 2 places for dresspheres. This is a good grid to use if you want to use Special Dresspheres a lot because you only have to change dresspheres in battle once and then you can use the special dressphere. While in special mode, your character will transform into something with 3 parts and your other 2 characters will be gone. All three parts are controlled by you and have very powerful attacks and abilities. - [D21] Yuna's Floral Fallal ------------------------------------------------- Location: Djose Highroad This special dressphere is found during chapter 2 on Djose Highroad while trying to get a Syndicate Uniform. {Floral Fallal Commands} Attack Fallalery Great Whirl Libra {Floral Fallal Abilities} Attack Heat Whirl Ice Whirl Electric Whirl Aqua Whirl Barrier Shield Flare Whirl Great Whirl All-Life Ribbon Double HP Triple HP Break HP Limit Break Damage Limit {Right Pistil Commands} Right Stigma Right Pistilplay {Right Pistil Abilities} White Pollen White Honey Hard Leaves Tough Nuts Mirror Petals Floral Rush Floral Bomb Fallal Bomb Floral Magisol Fallal Magisol Right Stigma Ribbon Double HP Triple HP Break HP Limit Break Damage Limit {Left Pistil Commands} Left Stigma Left Pistilplay {Left Pistil Abilities} Dream Pollen Mad Seeds Sticky Honey Halfdeath Petals Poison Leaves Death Petals Silent White Congealed Honey Panic Floralysis Ash Floralysis Left Stigma Ribbon Double HP Triple HP Break HP Limit Break Damage Limit - [D22] Rikku's Machina Maw -------------------------------------------------- Location: Bikanel Desert This special dressphere is found during chapter 2 at the Oasis. Since abilities are attached to specific dressphere grids, I will list all of them under the appopriate dresspheres in the section above. Please see that section for the actual list of abilities. Now, as far as how to gain abilities and how to use them, I will go over that here. As you progress through the game you will encounter random battles. During battle you will perform actions like attacking, using an item, casting a spell, etc. Everytime you perform an action, you will gain AP (Action Points). Now, you must have a Dressphere equipped in order to gain AP. Otherwise it just goes into oblivion. As an example we will take the Gunner Dressphere. It has 16 abilities attached to it. If you look at the Dressphere, some of them may not show up yet bacause they have a prerequisite ability that must be learned first before it will show up. Now, you can only choose to learn one ability at a time. So before a battle you need to go into the Abilities section of the main menu and go to a character. Then select the Dressphere you currrently have equipped from the menu on the left and the abilities for that Dressphere will show up. If you look closely at the abilities you will notice that one of them has a gold/yellow transparent bar over top of it. This is the ability you currently have selected to learn. To the right of that ability should be a number like 10/100. This means you have gained 10 AP through the course of battling and they have been applied to that ability. When you get 100 AP for that ability, you will have learned it and now be able to use it in battle. However, to use that ability you must be wearing that Dressphere during the battle. If you change to another Dressphere, that ability will no longer be available until you switch back to that Dressphere. For more information on Dresspheres, see the above section. When you learn an ability during a battle, the game will automatically switch to another ability for you so you the points won't go into oblivion. However, you may want to go in an manually select what ability you want to learn next because it may select something you don't want to waste time learning yet. I recommend always manually selecting abilities to learn. I recommend going in and manually setting the abilities to learn on all the Dresspheres you have for all your characters, so that when you switch between Dresspheres during battle, you will automatically start building up AP for the exact abilities you want to learn. As you learn abilities for a specific Dressphere, you will notice that the percentage next to the Dressphere like: Gunner 10% That number will rise as you learn more of the abilities. When you have all the abilities learned from a Dressphere the percentage next to the Dressphere name will turn to a "gold crown" image denoting that you have mastered the Dressphere. The upside is that you mastered it. The downside is that using that Dressphere from here on out means your AP you get from battles goes into oblivion while you use it. Hopefully this helps to explain abilities. Again, see the Dressphere section for the complete list of abilities. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ [013] -- Gaining AP ---------------------------------------------------------- One of the most common questions I get asked is how do you get AP in the game. SO I've decided to add this section to explain ALL the ways you can get AP. There are only 2 ways to get AP in the game: 1. Defeat an enemy 2. Perform a valid action in battle Now, let me explain each of them. Each enemy and boss in the game has a certain amount of AP. EVERY normal enemy in the game has 1 AP. EVERY oversoul version of a normal enemy has 2 AP. Most of the bosses in the game only have 1 AP until later in the game when some of the bosses can have 40 or more AP. So, let's say we get into an encounter with 3 normal enemies. We'll call them Flan's. Flan 1 - has 1 AP Flan 2 - has 1 AP Flan 3 - has 1 AP Now, Yuna and Rikku do nothing the entire battle. Paine however decides to use Trigger Happy to attack Flan 1. It dies. Yuna, Rikku, and Paine IMMEDIATELY gain 1 AP each. Paine however gets 1 more AP IMMEDIATELY because she performed a valid action (Trigger Happy). Now, the Paine does the same thing again to kill the second Flan and again to kill the third Flan. So overall during the battle, Paine received 6 AP (1 for each enemy that died and 1 for each action she took). Yuna and Rikku only got 3 AP each because they didn't do anything during the battle but were alive when Paine killed the Flan's. In otherwords, everytime a fiend dies, any character in the battle who is still alive, IMMEDIATELY gets 1 AP. The game doesn't keep track of AP gained and then give it to you at the end of the battle. It gives it to you immediately. That is why you see "******* Learned" pop up over your characters head sometimes during battle. When you learn a new ability, it will IMMEDIATELY be available to use during that battle. You don't have to wait until the next battle to use it. Again, your character has to be ALIVE to get the AP. Certain Dresspheres have the command "Attack". Using this command will never give you AP. You will still get the AP for killing an enemy with Attack, but not for using "Attack". Now, a valid action doesn't have to be a command like Trigger Happy. It can also be a spell or even a command like "Pray". However it has to actually do something for it to count as a valid action. For example, if you use the White Mage command "Pray" to heal your party, it has to actually heal someone if you want the AP point. If your entire party is at full HP, and you use "Pray", you will not get any AP. However if just 1 person has less than full HP (even 999/1000 HP) and it heals for just 1 HP or more, you will get the AP point. That is why I say a valid action. The action has to actually do something. Now, if you fight a boss that has 40 AP, all three characters will get 40 AP when it dies, plus any AP they got for taking valid actions during battle. The 40 AP is NOT DIVIDED. All three characters get the FULL 40 AP. Hopefully this clears up how you gain AP. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ [014] -- Gaining AP Quickly -------------------------------------------------- There are a few ways to gain more AP at a much faster rate. Throughout the game there are 4 things you can get to increase the amount of AP you receive. Here is a list: - Key to Success Double All (Doubles AP, EXP, Gil, Items) To get this accessory you must NOT complete the mission to stop the Ronso during chapter 3. Then you can find it in a treasure chest inside the far right room in Guadosalam during chapter 5. You cannot get 100% completion if you get this accessory. - Covenant of Growth Garment Grid Double AP, Double EXP To get this Garment Grid, you must beat Frailea (cactuar game). - AP Egg Triple AP To get this accessory, you must open the Chocobo Ranch Secret Dungeon. The accessory is in a treasure chest inside. See my section "Chocobo Ranch Secret Dungeon" in this FAQ for more information. - Lure Bracer Increases random encounter rate You can get this item in chapter 2 by going to the Bikanel Desert Oasis and defeating Logos. These are the only ways to increase the amount of AP you receive in the game. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ [015] -- Leveling Up Quickly ------------------------------------------------- This section is intended to give you a helpful way to level up very quickly in chapter 5. Some of the principles can be applied earlier in the game as well but it is geared towards power-leveling near the end of the game to max out your characters to level 99 in about one hour. There are a few ways to gain more EXP at a much faster rate. Throughout the game there are 4 things you can get to i
