You will awake in the town
of Narche, the coal mines up
north are a part of this town
and luckily a man found you
and recovered you. Talk to him
and he will tell you that he
had just removed the Slave Crown,
which had been controlling the
mysterious girl all this time.
She still does not remember
a thing though:
"A mysterious young woman,
controlled by the Empire, and
born with the gift of Magic......"
Here you will be asked to input a name, its better to select the default
because no one will like such geeky names like Jeff, Brian, M.Bison, or
CJayc(just kidding!). As long as you input Terra or Dingo you should be fine.
Afterwards she remembers her name, which is whatever you inputed but its
Terra. The old man seems pretty impressed since he has never see anybody
recover this fast from the Slave Crown. Then outside guards and hounds beat
on the door as they demand for the girl and the Empire's Magitek armor. She
appears to be a member of the Empire, but Terra doesn't seem to recall
anything about it. The old man decides to help Terra out as he lets her out
the back door. Outside make your way to the west part of town and inside the
western mines or Narche is a save point, so save your game and continue on.
At the top there is a treasure chest containing a PHEONIXDOWN, after picking
it up continue through and pick up a SLEEPING BAG and continue your way
through, when you reach to a certain point Narche guards come after you as
they corner Terra, but she falls to the floor below. At the bottom floor she
faints, but a flashback occurs. A mysterious man named Kefka has just put on
the Slave Crown on Terra and sets Terra to battle in Magitek armor as she
easily dismantles the soldiers. The next scene takes place towards the
outside castle of the Empire as Emperor Gestahl has a keen interest in magic
and wants to forcefully take everything that he thinks belongs to him. Terra
is still unconsious, and the scene shifts towards the Old man's house as a
mysterious man is shocked to hear what the old man thought he was doing:
"Treasure Hunter and trail-worn traveler, searching the world over for
relices of the past..."
Here you will be given the chance to name your character and this will be the
only time that you can name your character. Once again leave the default name
or give it Dingo. Te scene shifts back to Locke, he doesn't prefer robbing,
but Treasure Hunter. The old man called for Locke to meet with a woman, but
Locke doesn't want anything to do with the imperial Magitek-riding witch. The
town alone is too weak to take on the empire as the imperial troops are
persuing Terra as they speak, and their independence can only be assured if
they join forces with the Returners, an underground resistance movement.
Terra was not responsible for her actions and they must get Terra to join
with them. Locke finally agrees and the old man tells him to make his way to
Figaro and talk to the king. The scene shifts towards Terra as Locke comes to
her rescue, but there are many imperial troops to deal with and it doesn't
look like Locke can take them all himself, but WAIT! Kupo! Its them! Moogles
are here to help Locke. Here a small scene shows up as a brief and
descriptive speech by the moogle tells you how to switch between groups by
pressing the "Square" button(Y button for SNES), your job is to save Terra
from the imperial guards or else.
Now make your way down and take out as many imperial troops as you can. It
doesn't matter if you lose because you will hae two other groups to use, and
the party that was swooned earlier is automatically revived, but to minimal
HP. After defeating all of the impreial soldiers talk to the commander and a
boss fight will ensue.
After the battle Locke thanks
the moogles for their help and
he carries off Terra and takes
her outside as he switches a
hidden path. Terra then wakes
up, but she still can't remember
a thing. Locke says she's safe
with him until her memory returns
and he says the secret passage
might be useful someday, DON'T
FORGET ABOUT IT! You can walk
back to the old man's house
if you want, but the imperial
troops won't let you get through,
so you might as well hightail
it southwards to Figaro. Also
take this time to talk to the
man to the left for admitance
to the Beginner's House if your
low on HP and if you need help
on some of the specs of the
game and how it works. A very
good descriptive presentation
is explained here! After your
down head towards Figaro.
